A recent letter to B26Marauder:
"I am from France and I have pictures (shown on full article) of a wheels up crash landed Marauder taken by my father or grandfather (both have passed away, so I can't ask them). I believe they were taken near the town where they lived, Arcis sur Aube about 20 miles North of Troyes, thats in the Champagne region, east of Paris. Again I am not sure these pics were taken there but it is a reasonable assumption. Date is unknown but the fact that civilians were able to approach the wreck and even climb on/in it makes me think that they had already been liberated. If the pics were taken in the area mentioned above, then it was after 25-26 august 1944. On the pics I can distinguish the name of the aircraft "Hot Rock", serial number is not clearly visible. Aircraft has no visible damage except for the props which looked like they were both feathered at touch down. The tail markings are visible and may help. Any information would be appreciated." - Sebastien M.
